Across the Spiderverse (spida-gyal)

My new obsession, phenomenal animation, is just so inspiring makes you want to immediately draw nonstop.

So of course I have to create a spidersona.

My own Spiderman but for me a spidergyal.

Background

Meet my Spider sona Page Clarke, a high schooler that has a love for the outdoors. She attends an all-girls school which is quite common in Jamaica. A Kingstonian at heart (meaning she is from the city of Kingston). She is on a geography trip when she is bitten by a radioactive golden orb weaver spider that somehow survived radioactive bauxite sludge. The spider is known for its yellow webs to attract insects and its long torso.

With oncoming Caribbean examinations coming up, Pamela has to hide her newly acquired spider powers, which is an increased difficulty in a nosey Jamaican Household.

Character Design

Spiders are agile so a lean body type would be best suited.

I wanted to add some Jamaican style so the colors green, gold and red were chosen.

The first sketches had a cropped mesh set over her black spider suit, Then I experimented with other designs.

I had this feeling the first design was lacking some flare. I gravitated to the mesh long sleeves then did a stripe v-shaped design for her shorts

This is my current design updated 6/29/2023.Knowing myself you will probably see more changes as I delve deeper into the character.
